How Power is Gained

Since Russia is a democracy the only way that a person can gain power is if they are elected. And the only way they can lose power if they are not re-elected or impeached. When it was the era of the Soviet Union it was the exact same thing but there was only 1 party to vote for and if there were more than 1 they would probably have the same view.

The Leaders of Russia

Since the fall of the Soviet Union there has only been two presidents of Russia. The first president Boris Yeltsin was elected June 12, 1991 and was replaced by Vladmir Putin December 31, 1999. Vladmir Putin is currently the president.

The Russian Civil War lasted from 1917 to 1921 just before the creation of the USSR. The war began after the collapse of the Russian Government. The war was mainly between Communist forces that were known as the Red Army and the loosely allied group known as the White Army. The most intense fighting took place from 1918 to 1920. After 4 years the Communists finally won and as a result the Soviet Union was formed.
